Getting Started

  1. Introduction and Interface — What PowerPoint is, where it's used, and what makes a good presentation. Then tour the window, from the Ribbon to the Notes pane, and try each presentation view.
  2. Managing Presentations — Create, open, save, and close presentations, use Save As and AutoSave, start from a template, and choose between PPTX, PPSX, and PDF.
  3. Slide Layouts and Slide Management — Choose and change slide layouts, fill in placeholders, and add, duplicate, move, hide, reuse, and group slides into sections. Then fix up an About Me deck in the Chapter 1 project.

Working with Text

  1. Text Formatting — Add text boxes; change fonts, sizes, and colors; use bold, italic, Change Case, Format Painter, Undo, and Find and Replace; and decorate titles with WordArt.
  2. Paragraphs and Lists — Use bullets, numbering, and list levels; align text; set line spacing, text direction, and columns; and understand AutoFit. Then format a team introduction in the Chapter 2 project.

Design and Visuals

  1. Themes and Slide Design — Apply a theme, change its colors and fonts, format the background, meet Designer, and learn the design principles behind clear slides.
  2. Pictures — Insert, resize, rotate, and crop pictures; apply styles and corrections; remove backgrounds; compress pictures; and add alt text.
  3. Shapes, Icons and Arranging — Insert and format shapes, type in them, merge them, and meet icons and 3D models. Then layer, align, distribute, and group objects.
  4. SmartArt — Build list, process, cycle, and hierarchy diagrams with SmartArt; edit items and levels; and change layouts and colors. Then design a company overview in the Chapter 3 project.

Tables, Charts and Media

  1. Tables — Insert tables, enter data, add and delete rows and columns, merge and split cells, and style tables with table styles, borders, and shading.
  2. Charts — Choose the right chart type, insert a chart, edit its data, change its type, and add titles, labels, legends, and styles.
  3. Multimedia and Links — Insert audio and video, set playback options, trim clips, and add hyperlinks, action buttons, and Zoom. Then build a sales report in the Chapter 4 project.

Motion

  1. Transitions — Apply slide transitions, change effect options, duration, and sound, apply one transition to every slide, advance slides automatically, and meet Morph.
  2. Animations — Add entrance, emphasis, exit, and motion path animations; set start, duration, and delay; reorder them; and use Animation Painter and triggers. Then animate a product launch in the Chapter 5 project.

Presenting and Review

  1. Speaker Notes and Presenting — Write and print speaker notes, start and navigate a slide show, use the pen, highlighter, and laser pointer, black out the screen, and present with Presenter View.
  2. Presentation Review — Check spelling, accessibility, reading order, and consistency, work with comments, and compare versions. Then prepare a talk in the Chapter 6 project.

Output

  1. Printing, Export and Sharing — Print slides, notes, handouts, and outlines; export to PDF, pictures, GIF, and video; package, share, protect, and inspect a presentation. Then prepare a workshop deck in the Chapter 7 project.

Advanced Features

  1. Slide Master — Use Slide Master view to change every slide at once: backgrounds, fonts, logos, custom layouts, headers and footers, slide numbers, and templates.
  2. Presentation Setup — Set the slide size, choose presented, browsed, or kiosk shows, loop and auto-advance slides, rehearse timings, record a show, and build custom shows. Then set up a club display in the Chapter 8 project.

Real-World Projects

  1. Real-World Projects — Plan and build four complete presentations: a business pitch, an educational lesson, a project report, and a self-running product showcase.
